CBCT Full Mouth
(Includes Both Upper & Lower Jaws)

Dental Cone Beam CT (CBCT) is a special type of X-ray equipment used where regular dental or facial X-rays are not sufficient. This scan produces 3 dimensional (3D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan.

Test Preparation: Male/Female: No Special Preparation. Informed Consent Required.

Reporting TAT: 1 Day(s)*

Specialisation(s): Dental

CBCT Maxillary Sinus

There is an important bone matrix with remodelling between dentate and edentulous samples of the human maxilla for bone metabolism. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is useful for the structural analysis of bone.

CBCT Single Jaw

The procedure is similar to having an OPG and the scan is painless. Your chin will be positioned to rest on a small support to provide accurate positioning. The scanner will move around your head, to capture high-resolution images. An in-built advanced processor will construct & store all 3-dimensional images required by radiologists to review & report.

CBCT Single Quadrant

Pre-operative CBCT view of teeth in the first quadrant.

CBCT TM Joint

CBCT has emerged as a cost & dose-effective imaging modality for the diagnostic assessment of various Temporo-Mandibular conditions. The imaging modality has been found to be superior to conventional radiographical examinations in the assessment of TM joints.

CBCT TM Joint Left / Right

Temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are the 2 joints that connect the Lower jaw to Skull. These are the joints that slide and rotate in front of each ear and consist of the mandible (the lower jaw) and the temporal bone (the side and base of the skull).

What Is CBCT Scan?

CBCT is an acronym for Cone-Beam Computed Tomography. It is a type of imaging technology that helps dentists evaluate the underlying bone structure. It also captures the images of surrounding soft tissues and nerve pathways. The entire process is painless and quick. In almost 30-40 seconds, a scan of the entire mouth is done. Multiple images are captured from different angles and compiled to form one 3D image.

    • Scan causes no discomfort and the patient never knows when it finishes.
    • CBCT has negligible radiation exposure compared to traditional CT Scans.

What Organ and Tissues Do CBCT Reveal?

The current CBCT technology is highly advanced compared to traditional imaging methods. It creates images of the calcified structures and bones, along with the airway spaces, present in the mouth. It also reveals soft tissue structures such as glands, muscles, soft tissue tumours and vasculature. It helps identify potential dental issues like bone loss, tooth decay, facial fractures, abnormal growths and more.

The results of this assessment help dentists in treatment planning. Furthermore, it helps in smooth implant procedures.

When Should You Undergo CBCT Scan ?

If you are considering a dental implant, Dentists recommend a CBCT Scan. The scan offers a detailed picture of your bones, nerves, and soft tissues. CBCT may also be required under other circumstances like;

    • Reconstructive surgery when X-Ray/OPG is not enough.
    • A 3D image of the teeth & surrounding area is needed.
    • Cephalometric analysis (lateral Ceph).
    • Accurate measurements are needed, including jaw dimensions & shape.
    • Locate the origin of pain or pathology.
    • Evaluate the nasal cavity, sinus, and nerve canal.

CBCT scans are highly beneficial for Periodontists and the images captured help them achieve success in the treatment. We offer all types of CBCT scans in Varanasi, please contact our team to know more about the cost and procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for a CBCT scan?

You don’t need to do anything specific for the scan. It is a normal, painless procedure, just like an x-ray. A scanning appliance is used for the procedure, which emits radiation to capture the organs and soft tissues inside the mouth.

Are there any limitations of the CBCT scan?

There are a few limitations of the scan, including that the CBCT machine is sometimes unable to produce accurate images of the internal structures, such as the soft tissues and the soft tissue lesions.

Is a CBCT scan painful?

Not at all. The CBCT scan procedure is much easier compared to traditional CT scans. The CBCT scan is non-invasive, accurate and painless. Moreover, it offers precise treatment planning and offers more information than traditional methods.

How fast are CBCT scans?

CBCT scans do not take much time to complete. It takes less than 30 minutes to create an image of the entire mouth. The head is to be kept still when the scan is done, so there are no errors.

How much radiation is produced during the CBCT scan?

Negligible, however, some radiation is produced. It varies from about 18-200 MSV and is based on the image’s resolution, patient’s size, settings done by the machine manufacturer, location of the region of interest, etc.

What is better, CBCT or CT?

CBCT scans show higher spatial resolution than the fan beam CT system. The CBCT scan helps create more clear and detailed pictures and is, therefore, more effective than the traditional scan

Does CBCT show nerves?

A CBCT scan will show all your bones, nerves, soft tissues and pathologies, if any. This helps the endodontist or your dentist to diagnose and plan the treatment approach before the procedure begins.

Are CBCT imaging procedures safe?

CBCT dental imaging procedures are entirely safe and involve very small doses of radiation. However, at Karauli Diagnostics we ensure our patient’s safety and adopt several stringent dose-reduction techniques for maximum benefits.

Can I book my appointment online with Karauli Diagnostics?

Yes, you can book your appointment online for the CBCT scan with Karauli Diagnostics. This way, you will not have to wait at the centre long after arriving for the CBCT scan. We will take approx 30 minutes for the entire scan procedure and leave the patient for other chores.
